New Years Eve


Today is New Years Eve. We, Japanese, have a custom to eat Soba (Japanese noodle, http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Soba_(noodle) ) in New Years Eve. Eating Soba in the New Years Eve means that we wish to live like Soba (Thin and Long). So, my husband and I ate them as a lunch (usually Japanese eat Soba as dinner in the New Years Eve).

These Soba were carried by husband from Japan and they are instant Soba. Tastes are so-so but they made me to feel the end of the year.

Happy New Year to you and your husband...I love reading your blog and your impressions of the restaurants in the area. Have you been down to CCK for chinese cuisiine? The food is as close to NYC or San Francisco's chinatown as we can get in this area.

I went CCK restaurant once. Their dishes were so good and prices were cheap, I remember. I love them!

Hi Mari,
I was wondering what your favorite japanese restaurant is in the area. Not for hibachi tables...that isn't what I'm looking for. I will eat anything and everything, the more authentic...the better. My husband won't eat sushi, so wherever we go, we need to have something cooked for him.

Hi llcwine,
my favorite Japanese restaurant is "Sushi-Tei(http://www.sushiteialbany.com/)". Their sushi is so-so but other Japanese dishes are real Japanese, especially I like "Deep Fried Pork".

Hi llcwine, that's right. It is "Katsu". There are 2 kinds of "Katsu", Pork and chicken, in this restaurant. Pork is better.
